This journal is to post my political, social, and religious commentary, ranting, and rambling. It just didn't fit well with my predominantly fannish ramblings on my main journal, and I'm feeling more and more inclined to post things in a public venue as the current election cycle gets underway.
I've been around politics practically my whole life. Some of my earliest memories are of my mom and I at various campaign headquarters where Mom was working the phone banks. The importance of being involved with the process was something that my family instilled in me at an early age. I was taught that we were given great privileges as citizens of the United States, and that those privileges carry heavy responsibilities as well. I was taught that it is our repsonsibility to be informed voters and to make some noise when we believe that our government is acting wrongly. I've taken those lessons to heart. If anything, I am even more involved than my parents ever were, and I'm definitely more liberal.
I'm a registered member of the Democratic party. I'm a realist, and I feel like this is the place where I have a real opportunity to make a difference. In theory, my political views more closely resemble those of the Democratic Socialist Party.
I'm a member and regular attender of a Mennonite Congregation. I consider myself Christo-Pagan. I've found that this denomination is very open to questions of faith, and honest discussion and dissent.
